Occupational Health and Safety Act | OHS ACT | Health and Safety of Employees

The health and safety of employees is regulated under the Occupational Health and Safety Act 85 of 1993 (OHSA). The Act, read with the Regulations, imposes a general statutory duty on an employer to provide and maintain as is ‘reasonable practicable’, a working environment that is safe and without risk to the Health and Safety of employees, visitors, students and the general public.
